Kirateshwar Mahadev Temple

Kirateshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the famous temples dedicated to Lord Shiva situated on a hill in the deer park with little steep behind Pashupati Nath in Kathmandu valley of Nepal. This beautiful temple is situated in between Pashupatinath temple and Guhyushwari temple. Besides the significance of the temple, there is another most famous Kirateshwar Sangeet Ashram established in 2048 BS, which is a music institution offering the classical music classes and organizes classical music concerts in every full-moon night. The main motive behind the establishment of this Ashram is for the development and improvement of classical music in Nepal. This ashram also provides services related to classical music including vocals and musical instruments guiding to improve its learner’s skills and full moon concert is also considered as a platform for them to show their talent.

Kirateshwar Sangeet Ashram provides its students an opportunity to participate in the under-18 music competition once in a year and the winner gets a chance to perform at the full-moon concert with a cash prize and a one-year scholarship. In the last 25 years, the full-moon concert has always continued, no matters to any of the obstacles. These concerts are free to everyone where national and international classical musicians are invited to perform on the full-moon day of every month which is usually organized from 4 pm to 7 pm. These concerts are really dazzling composed of soothing music with classical instruments and vocals providing peaceful vibes to its audience. Tabla, flute, harmonium, sitar are some of the instruments that are usually played during these concerts.
