Tamang Heritage Trek

Tamang Heritage trail lies close to Langtang valley and a recently opened trekking destination. This trek is best-suited for beginner trekkers and is considered as short and easiest trekking trail in Nepal. This beautiful short trek passes through different Tamang villages including Gatlang, Tatopani, Thuman, Timure, Briddim, Bamboo, and Kyanjin Gompa offering wonderful views and beautiful sceneries. The highest altitude of this trek is up to 3,870 meters from sea level which presents gorgeous views of elegant snow-capped mountains including Mt. Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and the Tibetan peaks. The main focus of this trekking trail or destination is to interact with local Tamang people and gain more and more information about their cultural aspects, traditions, know about their lifestyles and daily activities and obviously their beliefs for the existence of their lives. Tamang Heritage trek is a cultural trek allowing you to an opportunity to explore one of Nepal’s Tibetan-influenced hill tribes. This trek starts from Syabrubesi at the elevation of 1,550 meters. The trail follows the way towards Gatlang village (2,200 meters) with the remarkable views of the Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma and Langtang Lirung. From here, you will trek towards Tatopani (2,607 meters) passing Chilime Hydropower dam, Thuman (2,400 meters) via Brimdang and Nagthali passing through dense alpine forest and beautiful mountain views. From Thuman, you will be trekking to Briddim (2,345 meters), a Tibetan village via Lingling and visit Dukchu Gompa. Further, trek towards Lama Hotel (2,470 meters) through Ghopche Khola via Rimche and enjoy beautiful lush forests and surprising mountain vistas. From Lama Hotel, trek to Langtang village (3,430 meters) which follows the way of dense forest and a climb is also needed. You will enjoy great views of Langtang Lirung, pass by water mills, prayer wheels, and chortens adorned with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. From Langtang valley, head towards Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 meters) through yak pastures and pass the largest mani wall in Nepal made from stone. Kyanjin Gompa surrounding offers overwhelming views of icefalls, glaciers, birds, and yaks. From here, you should again trek towards Lama Hotel and finally to Syabrubesi finishing the trek.
