Mt. Nirekha is one of the groups ‘A’ categorized climbing peak in Mahalangur range, situated at the elevation of 6,159 meters above the sea level in between Cho Oyu and Everest peak of the Himalayas in Khumbu Region of Nepal. The peak was recently opened for climbers in 2005 and is one of the difficult (challenging) peaks to climb as requiring straightforward climb towards the summit. As being challenging peak to its climbers, it is very necessary to have relative climbing experience or long trekking experience can also be sufficient because you need to pass about 1,200 meters distance by the use of ice-axe, crampons and rope works. It is not necessary to afraid of because not so much difficult too as you may be expecting right now but comparative with rest of the trail of this trip.
However, the peak has two climbing trail (route), which includes Kanchung Base Camp and Lake Base Camp and the first route is considered as an easier and shorter route because the glacier to the Cho-La Col on the Kanchung side is easy with only a few mostly harmless crevasses. Being technical and difficulties in summiting the peak, it is strictly recommended to have some experience in such kind of activities from the past along with physical and mental fitness. Despite climbing challenges, summiteers can capture the eye-catching gazing views of various high peaks like Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Cho-yu and other surrounding Himalayan ranges.
