Mera Peak situated at the elevation of 6,461 meters above sea level in most popular Khumbu Region of Nepal. The peak is one of the highest trekking peak in Nepal, categorized in group ‘B’ climbing peak by NMA. Being the highest trekking peak and situated at a higher elevation, of course, it is technically and physically demanding peak requiring some alpine climbing or long trekking experiences for comfort and adventurous journey in the Nepal Himalayas. Hence, this peak climbing journey is best-suited for true adventure seekers having the capability of facing out any kind of obstacles and challenges in the mountain areas with some knowledge and ideas of peak climbing.
However, Mera Peak is only a peak from where you can capture magnificent views of five out of six tallest peaks in the world, i.e. Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Cho Oyo. The trip towards the peak follows off the beaten or unfrequented trail offering various opportunities of explorative untouched nature along with adventure and thrills in your mind. The ascending trail towards the summit of the peak offers amazing diverse natural beauties and landscapes along with rare glances of many watershed areas, the wild and heavily wooded valleys Hinku and Hongu Drangkas.
Trekking Route
Mera Peak Climbing trip starts with a flight to Lukla, which is the starting and ending point of this trek as well as most of the treks in Khumbu Region of Nepal. From Lukla, your trekking trail starts and follows the way passing through Paiya, Panggom, Nigmsa, Chetra Khola, Kothe, Tangnang, Charpate Himal Glacier, Khare, Mera Peak Base Camp (5,300 meters), High Camp (5,780 meters) and finally to the summit of the peak to the elevation of 6,461 meters above sea level. Furthermore, the descending trail from the summit of the peak follows trek back to High Camp and Base Camp and continues trek towards Khare, Kothe, Thuli Kharka and finally Lukla again (the ending point). From Lukla, a scenic flight will take you back to Kathmandu valley.
Best Season
Moreover, the best time to make your journey towards Mera Peak is spring (September – November) and autumn (March-May). At this time, you can take maximum adventure and exploration of heading towards this wonderful peak.
