Dakshinkali Temple

Dakshinkali Temple is of the main temples of Nepali devoted to the goddess Kali. The temple is located 22 km away from the Kathmandu. During the Dashain festival, this place is much crowded. Most of the Hinduism worship the goddess Kali by giving her animal sacrifices. Animals are sacrificed here twice in a week, especially on Tuesday and Saturday. Tourist often visits this place and they can also get to experience a short hiking in Dakshinkali. We can also find the image of Lord Ganesh, Seven Asthamatrikas and an idol of Lord Bhairav nearby her idol.

In Hindu, Goddess Kali is referred to as Dark Mother which is why her bloodlust is fulfilled twice a week. The idol inside the temple is of black stone denoting goddess kali having six arms and trampling a male figure. Mostly in the Hindu festival, the temple always looks like blood washed with the animal sacrifices such as uncastrated goat, chicken, buffaloes, and other animals. The temple was built by Malla king, the ruler of the 14th century when Goddess Kali appeared in his dream and commanded to build a temple of her immediately in unknown strange place.

Tourist faces major problem face while visiting this temple. Firstly, they will find the difficulty with the dusty roads. Except for Hinduism, no other religions are allowed to enter in front the idol of goddess Kali. People of other religion are allowed to sit outside, take photos of the exterior and its architectural designs. If you wish to go to the Dakshinkali Temple, then you have to hire a vehicle and its take like an hour to reach there from Kathmandu passing via Pharping valley. Public transportation is also available to Dakshinkali Temple but it often too crowded. If you have never seen a slaughter, than it is one of the most important places for you to take a visit.
