Rupa Lake ( Rupa Tal ) Pokhara Kaski

Rupa Lake is a freshwater lake and third biggest lake in Pokhara valley of Nepal located at an altitude of 600m covering area of about 1.35km² in Pokhara-Lekhnath metropolitan municipality of Nepal. The lake is fed by perennial streams elongated north to south with watershed area of 30 km². It supports various floral and faunal species including 36 species of water birds which is 19 percent of total 193 wetland dependent birds found in Nepal.

Rupa Lake is among one of the main tourism attracting place in Pokhara city which provides enough space for boating experience for its visitors. Cage culture and pen culture have been practiced in this lake for fish farming. From the lake, beautiful reflection of Mountains and sceneries can be observed. Visitors can swim in the canoe or boat and in the middle of the island there is a temple. Farmers in Kaski district have formed the Rupa Lake Rehabilitation and Fisheries Cooperatives Limited with its main aim to protect the watershed. The ridge between the Begnas tal and the Rupa tal offers a simultaneous view of both the lakes, to which a lot of people have remarked as the eyes of Pokhara. The most convenient way to reach Rupa tal would be to trek around the lake. One should enquire about the bus timings to avoid any turbulence.

Beside this lake, Begnas Lake (which is just 10 km from Rupa lake), Dipang Lake (home of various rare fish and aquatic plants), Khaste Lake (famous destination for bird watchers) and many more attractive places which are recommended to visit.
