Gupha Pokhari

Gupha Pokhari (also known as Cave Pond) is a beautiful natural pond which is located in Gufa VDC of Sankhuwasabha district of Nepal situated 2,890 meters above the sea level. The pond is considered as holy pilgrimage site for the people of both Hinduism and Buddhism. The name of the pond i.e. Gupha Pokhari was given by priests who were believed to meditate in the caves around the hills of this area in 20^th century and previous name of the pond was Siddha Marga Pokhari. It is believed that the pond grants the wishes of people coming here as similar to Manakamana temple located in Gorkha of Nepal. The pond can be reached within 3 days from Kathmandu valley out of which 1 day walk is required to reach to the pond from Myanglung.

Gupha Pokhari is the most popular tourist destination to be visited in Tinjure Milke Jaljale Trail which is also known as Rhododendron capital of Nepal where 28 out of 32 Rhododendron species are found. Various species of birds and mammal with many types of flowers and plants are found in this area presenting natural beauty and importance of this area. The great view of mountains i.e. Makalu, Kanchenjunga and Mt. Everest can be observed on the clear day.

The pond is considered as the most popular destination and the best things to do in this area are site seeing, Birds watching, tasting Rhododendron wine and drinking Tongba. The best time to visit this place is in February and March. For the snow lover or the people wishing to play snow can visit this place in winter mainly November and December to experience and enjoy playing snow.
