Dhor Barahi Temple

Dhor Barahi Temple is a holy Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Barani situated at the hilltop in Dhorphirdi village in Tanahun district of western Nepal. The temple is believed to be established in the medieval era which is also mentioned in Himavatkhanda Purana. The temple sits in the top of steep hill and pilgrims coming to visit this temple usually prefer to hike as it is located just 5 kilometers off from the highway. The temple area can also be reached renting off road van but still, about 20 minutes of the hike will be required to reach the holy temple. According to Hindu mythology, there is a belief that if you face to difficulties or choose the difficult way to reach a temple, then there is a chance of getting from blessings from gods and goddess, this is the reason most people preferring to hike to this temple.

Dhor Barahi Temple hike will take to the environment of the temple premises. Firstly, you can see many shops with everything needed for worshipping featuring candles dipped in ghee, agarbatti, flowers, camphor, Dhojas (colorful threads), raw coconut and much other worshipping stuff. After getting goods from there, you can hike to temple for a few minutes to reach the temple and on the way to temple you can see some hotels offering various food items. As before worshipping it is not good to eat anything, you can taste the foods and snacks over there after completion of worshipping to the goddess. The temple premises have so sweet and peaceful smell and you can also hear many holy chants and songs which sound so good for your mind. You can worship to the goddess with the priest (pandit) reciting some mantras and there might be a line (queue) of people for entering the temple.

Moreover, Dhor Barahi Temple Goddess is believed to have the power of fulfilling wishes and desire of devotees and people sacrifice animals to her but during some festivals like Aunsi, Ramanavami, and Ekadasi, no animal sacrifice is performed. There is also a small pond near to the temple which is watered by spring which appears and flows by itself and believed as if it is the power of goddess which is one of the interesting things to watch over here.
