Waling Syangja

Waling is a town as well as municipality covered with hills in the heart of Aadhikhola valley of Syangja district of western Nepal. The town, Waling, is situated at an altitude of 800 meters from sea level, while the municipality’s height varies from 731 meters to 1,596 meters. The name origin of Waling is believed to be originated from the word Wali, which is a monsoon folk song sung by women while planting paddy in fields. The place is famous for its unending paddy fields in the plains and rise and fall of terraces in mountain slopes. In monsoon season at light rain, many people used to come here to watch these festive women groups singing wali and planting paddy beautifully.

Although Waling is not a well-known place for tourism, of course, it presents various attractions and experiences if you explore or come to visit this place. You can experience the beautiful and stunning Sunset and valley’s view from the hill of the waling. This beautiful destination has a great scope of bird watching because various species of birds are found here in large quantity. Although the climatic condition of this place is very dramatic, which is good for you too if you have never experienced, during the clear day with a clear sky, this place offers magnificent and clear view of Mt. Machhapuchre. In similar way, Annapurna ranges with Machhapuchre are closely visible from Amale village (neighbor village from Waling). Besides the tradition, culture and natural sceneries and views from the place, Patanjali Yogapeeth is a unique building here built by Acharya Balkrishna and Baba Ramdev.

Moreover, Waling is going to be made as Smart Waling for making this place a smart city. It is said that only a color, Pink, will represent the city as a whole. Furthermore, exploring nearby villages will help to explore more about the lifestyle and countryside beauty which features old traditional houses, farmers, children, and beautiful views. People fishing in the bank of Andhikhola and working on field is a common view of this area.
