Bhutandevi Temple

Bhutandevi Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Bhutandevi  (also known as Hidimbi) situated in Bhutandevi, Hetauda of central Nepal. Bhutandevi is also considered as another form of goddess Durga and also said to be the wife of Bhim (one of the Pandevas). The holy temple situated in Hetauda can be reached in about 15 minutes of comfortable walk from Hetauda Bus Park. It is said that the temple was designed according to Vastu principles which persist the value of the temple with the belief of getting victory over serious difficulties, problems and fear after worshipping the holy temple.

The goddess Durga is the avatar of the goddess Parvati, who had killed Mahishasura Mardini because he terrorized all and everywhere from human to saints and had captured all three world on the battle with gods. All gods tried to defeat him but they became unsuccessful but finally, the goddess Durga killed that demon in a battle which lasted for nine days and nights. From this event, the greatest festival of Hindu people Dashain is celebrated over this victory as a festival of Navaratri, which ends with Bijaya Dashami.

In the temple premises, you can see a statue of Mahishasura converting himself from Buffalo to Human when goddess killed him. The temple also houses the statues of Laxmi-Narayan, Radha-Krishna and which is also believed to hold the power of all these god and goddess. Located in a very peaceful environment with the great ritual value of this holy temple, it is worth to visit this beautiful location for Hindu people.
