Australian Camp Trek ( Thula Kharka)

Australian Camp (also known as Thula Kharka in Nepali) is one of the easy and short trekking destinations around Pokhara valley in Annapurna region. The major attractions to this trek are Australian Camp and Dhampus Village with eye-catchy close views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna (II, III, and IV), Himchuli, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu range in a clear day. Australian Camp trek can be started from Kande, which is situated at the elevation of 1,710 meters from sea level and is about an hour drive from Pokhara Valley. From Kande, you will be trekking towards Australian Camp (2,060 meters) passing small villages with houses. The trail is composed of beautiful rhododendron and red sandalwood forests and of course beautiful mountain views. The trail further follows the way towards Dhampus Village (1,650 meters) offering wonderful views of the landscape and High Mountains and observation of various species of beautiful flowers and beautiful mustard field. You can also look over a local Gurung community and explore something from them and don’t forget to view mesmerizing views of Sunrise from Dhampus at morning time. The trail further leads to Phedi, which is just about 2 hours of walk from Dhampus village. You can head towards Pokhara valley and spend your good time over there.

Australian Camp trek is a quiet trail with little steep path passing through very few villages. However, while heading towards the main destination, the trail does not offer many views but does pass through beautiful forests. After reaching there, you will surely be amazed by the views offered by the place which is so close and eye-catchy.
