Bikram Baba Temple

Bikram Baba Temple is a popular temple located inside Chitwan National Park in Kasara of Chitwan district of Nepal. Bikram Baba is the main festival celebrated by local Tharu, Kumal and Darai community every year. Bikram Baba is a holy place for Hindus and is named after a Hindu god popular among the native Tharu people. It is a very popular destination for thousands of people for about 15 days in a year when it is opened. The location of worship is in the forest, which is centered on a tree. It is said that about 10-15 years ago a local man found a stone at the base of this tree that he said was in the shape of Bikram Baba and finally worshipped as a temple. It is believed that if a person prays with a faithful heart their wishes and desires will be blessed by God.

Bikram Baba carries the meaning of brave guardian in Hindu mythology and in these days, besides Tharu, Kumal & Darai community, people from other communities also used to visit this place to fulfill their wishes. Pilgrims offer Bikram Baba god with different things like releasing pigeons or sacrifice animals to empower the devotion for making God impressed and give them a blessing. This place is only permitted to visit only during this festival only (for 10-15 days) where people from different part of Nepal and India to visit this place for worshiping. This temple and festival are regarded as one of the most popular festivals in Chitwan which will be worshipped for around 15 days.

However, Bikram Baba Temple holds great religious significance as its pilgrims believe that their wish will be surely fulfilled if worshipped sincerely with true heart and they also release pigeons and sacrifice animals to empower their devotion. These days, this place is also being utilized these days as a recreational and picnic spot by youngsters adding more scope of tourism in this area.
