Chulu West Peak Climbing

Chulu West Peak is one of the high peaks standing proudly at the elevation of 6,419 meters above the sea level in most popular Annapurna Region of Nepal and is a group ‘B’ categorized climbing peak by Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). This higher elevation climbable peak offers ultimate experience into the mystical world of Himalayas. The trail leading towards the peak is consists of challenging and thrilling path with narrow ridges and some of the obstacles and is considered as one of the demanding and difficult peaks to be climbed. Hence, it is compulsorily required to have previous climbing and long trekking experiences to experience and enjoy the life lasting adventure and physical and mental fitness are a common factor to make the ascent to the peak.

However, the first ascent to the peak was made by a Japanese expedition team in 1953. As being challenging to touch the summit of the peak, climbers should have the knowledge and techniques of properly using Crampons, Ropes, and Ice-axe to passing through the challenging snowy trail. In addition, the peak offers gorgeous views of spectacular mountains, Himalayan vistas, and wonderful landscapes and a rare chance to deep insight into the mixture of ethnic culture of Nepalese society. You can also enjoy surprising views of giant Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna, and many other Himalaya peaks, which are really gazing.

Trekking Route

Chulu West Peak climbing trip is started from Besisahar, Lamjung, which can be reached with a drive from Kathmandu valley. The trekking journey started from Besisahar follows the trail passing through Tal, Bagarchhap, Chame, Pisang, Manang, Letdar, Chulu West Base Camp, High Camp and finally to the summit of the peak at the elevation of 6,419 meters above sea level. Furthermore, the descending trail from the summit of the peak follows the trail towards the base camp of the peak itself, Thorung Phedi crossing Thorung La, Muktinath and finally to Jomsom, which is the ending point of the trek. From Jomsom, a comforting flight will take you back to Kathmandu valley.
