Dantakali Temple

Dantakali Temple is the Hindu temple which is situated in mountainous terrain and middle of beautiful hillock of Bijayapur, Dharan of Nepal where the sacred teeth of the goddess Satidevi lies. Many Hindu people come to this place to worship the Goddess. During first nine days of Dashain, great crowds of people can be seen as thousands of devotees come here to worship. According to the myth, a tooth ofrecently died wife of Lord Shiva fell off on this spot while Shiva was traveling on the earth with shock carrying his dead wife. The fallen tooth looks very much alike of human being itself and preserved till this date.

Dantakali is also considered as form of goddess Durga which is clearly stated in the holy book of SwasthaniBarta Katha. So, mainly during the period of Dashain, thousands of her devotees visit this place for worshipping. On the occasion of MahaAsthami (8^th day of Dashain), mass secrifices of goats takes place on the temple premises believing to make the Goddess happy and make their wishes come true. On the 9^th day of Dashain (Navaratri), maximum numbers of devotees come here as it is the last as well as main day to worship Durga Goddess.

The temple is one of the major Shakti Peeths (Goddess-focused Hindu pilgrimage destinations) of Nepal.This place is very beautiful with green hills around the sight of Dharan bazaar from the top. This temple holds great significance for the Hindu religious people and also considered as most visited temple during BadaDashain festival (main festival of Hindu people).
