Langtang valley is also known as the valley of glaciers, which is the closest place to get to the massive mountains, usually snow-capped, and beautiful glaciers and considered as one of the heavenly places to trek on. This beautiful valley is located just about 31 kilometers north from Kathmandu valley bordering Tibet. Langtang National Park lies inside this valley which contains a wide variety of climatic zones with about 25% of forest including various species of flora and fauna. The whole valley is under controlled by a high summit i.e. Mt. Langtang Lirung (situated at the altitude of 7,246 meters from sea level) offering gorgeous and magnificent views of pine forest, instantaneous mountains streams, snow-capped peaks, grassy lawn, meadows and rugged rock. Langtang valley is mostly a popular destination for trekking, climbing with white-water rafting. Langtang valley trek takes around 8 hours of drive from Kathmandu valley to reach Syabrubesi, which is the starting point of this trek. Langtang trek is composed fully of excitements and adventures. From Syabrubesi (the starting point of this trek), you can follow the way to Langtang River to reach Kyangin Gompa in the east direction. Depends on trekkers and nature of them but it usually takes 3-4 days trek to reach Langtang Valley. The beautiful valley with wonderful nature consist of more than 70 glaciers of varying sizes, the Langtang and Ganesh mountain ranges along with high-altitude lakes including Gosainkunda, Parvatikunda, Bhairavkunda, and Dudhkunda. Besides natural activities, you can also explore and experience the culture, traditions, and lifestyles of Tamang and Tibetan origin people. The rich primitive culture of them is really interesting to become a part of, for a while. Their arts and crafts, dresses along with stone houses built traditionally and their wooden porches carved beautifully proudly reflect their rich Himalayan heritage and culture. Roaming around Langtang National Park presents a beautiful environment and everything you see from here never disappoint you. The national park also contains the Gosainkunda lakes, which is one of the sacred lakes to Hindus and Kyanjin Gompa, which is spiritual site Buddhist.
However, the best time for trekking in Langtang Valley is in the month of October/November and March/May. This is the time when you can explore the maximum possible things that can be done in this specific trek.
