Located on historical place of Gorkha district Manakamana Temple is combination of two words ‘Mana’ means heart and other word ‘kamana’ means wish. Manakamana Temple is Hindu Temple of god Bhagwati. People believed that Goddess Bhagwati fulfill their wish who worship her. Thousand of followers visit here to make their wish come true every year,and the temple is always crowded by visitors from different places.

It is said that In 17th century Queen of the Gorkh King Ram Shah have magical devine powers, that only her devotee Lakhan Thapa knew about magical power. One day king Ram Shah saw her in Goddess incarnation and Lakhan Thapa in the form of a Lion. After that mysterious death of king happened, and the queen committed sati (ritual immoltion) on her husbands’s funeral pyre. Before her sati she assured Lakhan Thapa that she will appeare in the future. After six month later, while farmer ploughing his field, he saw a stone stream of blood and milk. Immediately Lakhan Thapa started performing Hindu tantric ritual ceasing the stream of blood and milk. After that day the place become the foundation of the present shrine.
How To Reach Manakamana Temple (Manakamana Mandir)
You can take local bus from kathmandu to kurintar or your own vehicle or rental vehicle which will take about 2 hour or more depending on road condition and traffic. From Kurintar you can ride cable car bout 10 minute to Manakamana Temple.
You can see breath-taking view on way to Mankamana Temple and from the Temple.

Manakamana is one of the most popular temples in Nepal. It is the sacred place of the Hindu Goddess Bhagavati. Cable car is the easiest way to reach the temple. The bottom station of the cable car is at Kurintar and the top station is at Manakamana. Overall it was nice experience visiting this place.
