Muktinath is the most selected destination as a touristic destination, situated at the altitude of 3,710 meters in Mustang, western Nepal, and considered as the most sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists. This site is located near to the village of Ranipauwa. In Hinduism, the site is called Mukti Kshetra which means place of liberation. The temple is considered to be 106th among available 108 Divya Desam which are considered sacred by the Sri Vaishnava sect. The ancient name of this place was Thiru Saligramam. The Buddhists call it Chuming Gyatsa which in the Tibetan language means hundred glasses of water. The site is also respected in Buddhism because guru Padmasambhava meditated there for some time although the temple has a Vaishnav origin. Muktinath is a very important place of dakinis (goddesses known as Sky Dancers) for Tibetan Buddhists and is one among 24 Tantric places.
A religious place, also offering lots of attractions and hidden treasure, trekking in Muktinath feels like a journey to the outside world in earth. Due to the fact of being religious significance, it receives thousands of pilgrimages inside and outside the country, especially India. The place features plenty of black amniotic fossils, which is regarded as the embodiment of Lord Vishnu, making pilgrims travel long distances of the rugged trail to collect those items. The main temple is built in pagoda style with its main dedication to Lord Vishnu and there are 108 waterspouts cast in the shape of cow head, pouring holy water behind the temple, where pilgrimage takes bath from the ice-cold holy water. However, Buddhist people conduct worship with the presence of a Buddhist monk. A local nun manages the pujas in the temple and the pilgrims are expected to offer a Prasad to the deity.
Moreover, Muktinath tour is best to make in the month of March to May and September to November and considered as the best season for the easy, comfortable and explorative journey. The most popular hub with religious, cultural and spiritual significances for both Hindu and Buddhist people attracts thousands of visitors either for religious aspects or the unexplainable beauties offered by the place.
