Namje Village

Namje Village is a beautiful village situated at the elevation of 1,585 meters above sea level ruled by Magar people located in Bhedetar VDC of Dhankuta district of eastern Nepal. Situated at the comfortable height, the place features beautiful terraced fields, surrounded by wooded hills around, 19 houses for the homestay, climate-changing approximate 5 times a day and views of fifth-tallest peak Mt. Makalu (8463 meters), green hills and the picturesque villages. Talking about the homestays here, it is estimated that visitors visiting this destination spends Rs.4,000 to Rs.10,000 per night and every household earns around Rs.50,000 per month. The Namje homestay has the capacity to accommodate 80 people per day and the number of visitors overflows than capacity at weekends. The homestay has been drawing both domestic and foreign tourists and hence promoting eco-tourism inside the country.

Namje village can be reached from Kathmandu valley by flight to Biratnagar and further about 57 kilometers of distance by bus towards Bhedetar Bazar. Also, a long drive of around 422 kilometers from Kathmandu valley via Dakshinkali-Hetauda road will lead to Bhedetar but the journey is remarkably long. From Bhedetar, still, about 3.5 kilometers of the hike is required to reach the main destination (The Namje Village). Beautiful homestays with organic food and warm hospitality, mesmerizing air, ever changing weather and climate with gathering information about the culture and lifestyles of Magar people is the best part of this trip. Thumki Danda, which is situated at the altitude of 1,828 meters, is popular for the Atma Ghar which was constructed by 24 different architects of different countries in late 2011. A visit to this village can also allow you to join Tinjure, Kanchenjunga, Tamor and Makalu trek.
