Ranikot Village Hike

Ranikot Village is one of the perfect hiking destinations and is a hilltop near Kathmandu valley which goes through an amazing and unfrequented path for best explorations and experiences. This beautiful village is situated at the elevation of 2,100 meters from sea level. Hiking to Ranikot Village also offers great bird watching experiences and few Hindu temples to be visited. Ranikot hike can be started from Suryabinayak temple situated in Bhaktapur district of Nepal which is about 22 kilometers in distance from Kathmandu valley. The trail goes through uphill towards the Ranikot pass which is fully composed of peaceful and virgin forest. The hike can be considered as nature walking walk mixed with adventure. On the way, you can visit Pilot Baba Ashram. After an hour of walk from Ashram you will reach to Ghampe Danda where you can take rest for a while. After another hour of a hike from this Danda, you will reach Ranikot, the actual destination. The trail towards this village offers the great panoramic view of Langtang range and whole Kathmandu valley with historic sites and religious temples. You can also explore the local ethnic people’s culture, traditions, and lifestyles.

Moreover, Ranikot is the hill point from where three cities of Kathmandu valley (Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur) can be seen at once. Only about 5 hours of walk and not so difficult trail will lead you to this beautiful village with lots of offering and exploration chances.
